This beastie here was done for ConceptArt.org’s C.O.W. – something I don’t usually get to participate in but I found some extra time to work her out.

This one is for another CGhub Creature Challenge - The Dazzling Prancer. I’m really enjoying drawing these guys and might keep them around for some personal projects.

Meanwhile Im currently working on getting some private commissions done – a tattoo design and a brachiolope. I’m doing both in pencil and I’ll be posting work for both in the coming days.

So here is the final for my re-take on Snarf. This was done for CG hub’s Creature Planet Contest. I’ve been experimenting with starting and finishing pieces in the computer. I’m really pushing to keep my “penciled look” though all of it.

I’ll also be exploring some prehistoric work for a bit. I started with the Raptor and dropped the subject but am interested to pick it back up again.

Here is a sketch for a saber toothed tiger. Also coming soon in the prehistoric section: a brachiolope. – for some friends.

Snarf is © to Warner Bros.

So after talking to a friend of mine (who happens to be a Thundercats fan) I decided to take another shot at Snarf. This time, trying to really capture what snarf is. Anyway this is the sketch and I;ll be moving to final from here. You can view other takes on snarf on CG Hub’s Creature Planet Challenge.

Small sketchie that I really enjoyed doing. I don’t paint in the computer much but I’m slowly taking to it.

Here is a work in progress for CGhub’s Creature Planet contest:

Its a redesign for Snarf from Thundercats. I’m not really into fan art but I couldn’t resist! Anyway, we’re making head-way on the Morae River’s new webpage so that should be up soon. Expect new work on brynnart.com

Our Work is Never Over

Working on a new species for The Morae River. I’ve been focusing on humanoids for the last couple of weeks and I needed to get back to this new species. She’s been sitting on my mind now for a while and I’m excited to get started. Yes, this is what the beginning usually looks like (lots of side views, oddly) and while I don’t usually like to post these sorts of sketches, I am really wanting to share more of my process. Hopefully, it will inspire me to create more sketches to push things further.

This particular species is from the Shenzabl Plains, a realm not yet explored or defined as of now. If you’re a follower of the Morae, you might know what family ( and perhaps genus) this species might belong to. I am still trying to decide where she sits in the grander scheme of things – as far as who she’s related to but I’m leaning toward Barduspedids. Which is a newer term not present on The Morae River blog. I’ve been going through my writing, trying to clean things up and so far its proving to be quite the task.

I’ll be moving back to humanoids once this species is posted to the blog. I’m now shifting my focus to culture building for the next few weeks. I’ve had some ideas floating around for the last year or so and I’m beginning to write and sketch them out. This is not related to The Morae River in anyway. As far as I am concerned, there are no indigenous tribes that inhabit Solturna or even Orcura. This particular culture, The Alatu, are completely separate from anything I’ve created thus far. I’ll be posting sketches and writing about them soon.

Anyway, I’m off to do more sketching…

A new piece in the works. I’ll be posting the final to this soon. I’m trying out the process of designing a culture around this particular character.

In other news I’m currently working on the Morae River’s website. Its turning out to be a huge website with lost of different menus and pages for each species. It’s taking a lot longer than I anticipated but I think once its finished it will really showcase the work quite well.

Off to the studio to draw for a bit…

One of the best animated shorts I’ve seen in a while. The drawings are gorgeous and the horse is just so perfect. Check it out and enjoy! :D

A new piece in the works – “Rust”. Here is the sketch for it. I’ll be uploading the final soon. Brynnart.com is also getting a make-over today. I’ll be launching the new site tomorrow morning.
